Magnitude 4.9 earthquake hits central Turkey

A 4.9 magnitude quake struck the Sarıoğlan district of Turkey’s central Kayseri province on Tuesday, Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency announced on its website.

The earthquake occurred at around 02:28 TSI, with its epicenter at a latitude of 39.0483 degrees north and a longitude of 35.9098 degrees east, and at a depth of 23.75 km.

The earthquake was felt in the nearby provinces, including Ankara, Çorum, Çankırı, Kırşehir, Sivas and Nevşehir, according to local sources said.

There are no immediate reports of serious damage or deaths. (ILKHA)
