House sales in Turkey decreases by 0.5% in 2021—statistical agency

House sales decreased by 0.5% in 2021 compared to the previous year and became a million 491 thousand 856. İstanbul had the highest share with 18.5% and 276 thousand 223 house sales.

The followers of Istanbul were Ankara with 144 thousand 104 house sales and İzmir with 86 thousand 722 house sales with the share of 9.7% and 5.8% respectively. The provinces with the lowest number of sales were Hakkari with 267, Ardahan with 377 and Bayburt 871 house sales.

In December, 226 thousand 503 houses were sold in Turkey

In December, house sales increased by 113.7% compared to the same month of the previous year and became 226 thousand 503. İstanbul had the highest share with 17.2% and 39 thousand 26 house sales. The followers of İstanbul were Ankara with 21 thousand 481 house sales and İzmir with 13 thousand 386 house sales with the share of 9.5% and 5.9% respectively. The province with the lowest number of sales was Hakkari with 44 house sales.

Mortgaged house sales became 45 thousand 260

In Turkey, mortgaged house sales increased by 209.3% in December compared to the same month of the previous year and became 45 thousand 260. In January-December period, mortgaged house sales decreased by 48.6% compared to the same period of the previous year and became 294 thousand 530. In 2021, mortgaged house sales had 19.7% share of all house sales.

Other house sales became 181 thousand 243

In Turkey, other house sales increased by 98.4% in December compared to the same month of the previous year and became 181 thousand 243. In January-December period, other house sales increased by 29.3% compared to the same period of the previous year and became a million 197 thousand 326. In 2021, other house sales had 80.3% share of all house sales.

76 thousand 747 houses were sold for the first time

In Turkey, first time house sales increased by 108.0% in December compared to the same month of the previous year and became 76 thousand 747. In January-December period, first time house sales decreased by 1.7% compared to the same period of the previous year and became 461 thousand 523. In 2021, first time house sales had 30.9% share of all house sales.

Second hand house sales became 149 thousand 756

In Turkey, second hand house sales increased by 116.8% in December compared to the same month of the previous year and became 149 thousand 756. In January-December period, second hand house sales increased by 0.1% compared to the same period of the previous year and became a million 30 thousand 333. In 2021, second hand house sales had 69.1% share of all house sales.

In Turkey, 58 thousand 576 houses were sold to foreigners in 2021

 House sales to foreigners increased by 43.5% in 2021 compared to the previous year and became 58 thousand 576. House sales to foreigners had 3.9% share of all house sales. In house sales to foreigners, İstanbul was the first province with 26 thousand 469 sales. The followers of İstanbul were Antalya with 12 thousand 384 house sales and Ankara with 3 thousand 672 house sales to foreigners.

In December, house sales to foreigners increased by 77.1% compared to the same month of the previous year and became 7 thousand 841. İstanbul ranked first with 3 thousand 300 house sales to foreigners. The followers of İstanbul were Antalya with a thousand 827 house sales and Ankara with 489 house sales to foreigners.

House sales were mostly made to Iran citizens according to nationalities in 2021

Iran citizens bought 10 thousand 56 houses from Turkey in 2021. The followers of Iran citizens were Iraq citizens with 8 thousand 661 house sales and Russia citizens with 5 thousand 379 house sales.

In December 2021, Iran citizens bought a thousand 462 houses from Turkey. The followers of Iran citizens were Iraq citizens with a thousand 39 house sales and Russian citizens with 885 house sales.

In Turkey, women bought 506 thousand 495 and men bought 819 thousand 730 houses in 2021

While 506 thousand 495 houses with share 34.0% were bought by women and 819 thousand 730 houses with share 54.9% were bought by men, 28 thousand 900 houses with share 1.9% were bought jointly by women and men in Turkey.

In Istanbul, which has the highest share in total house sales of Turkey in 2021, women bought 83 thousand 226 houses, men bought 142 thousand 120 houses, women and men together (joint ownership) bought 6 thousand 962 houses. (ILKHA)
