In an interview with the Al-Aqsa TV channel on Tuesday evening, Abu Marzouq confirmed that Hamas has not turned down any invitations for Palestinian unity, adding that his movement has one condition to take part in such consultations – not conceding any Palestinian constant and achieving a true political partnership.
Abu Marzouq noted that Fatah has not responded yet to the Russian invitation for intra-Palestinian discussions.
Several Palestinian factions have accepted Algeria's invitation to hold a Palestinian factional meeting next March but Fatah has not responded yet, Abu Marzouq added.
In its latest visit to Cairo last October, Abu Marzouq continued, Hamas presented to Egypt an initiative to accomplish an intra-Palestinian reconciliation but it has not received any response from Fatah.
As for Palestinian elections, Abu Marzouq said that his movement has two conditions to participate in this process: not canceling the elections with guarantees to be held as planned and resorting to the 2005 Election Law to oversee the election process.
Abu Marzouq noted that the Central Elections Commission had said that these political demands should be discussed with Fatah.
The senior Hamas official called on Fatah and the Palestinian Authority to review their political stances and admit that they had done mistakes.
Concerning the increasing acts of resistance against the occupation in the West Bank, Abu Marzouq stressed that the Palestinian people should escalate their resistance until ending the occupation.
Speaking about the meeting held between Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and zionist occupation war minister Benny Gantz, Abu Marzouq pointed out that the United States had pushed for this move to undermine the growing Palestinian resistance to the occupation in the West Bank.
The Hamas politburo member went on to demonstrate that his movement is committed to its national principles and positions and would continue resistance while rejecting any political or economic deal with the zionist occupation. (ILKHA)
