Last week, the first batch of Turkovac vaccines were shipped from Şanlıurfa, a southeastern province where the vaccine was produced, to Ankara, the Turkish capital, after being granted emergency approval following studies on volunteers that showed its efficacy.
Turkovac was developed by the Health Institutes of Turkey and Erciyes University.
In November, the Turkish Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca reported that Turkovac's application for emergency use authorization had been filed.
On 22 December, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the emergency use approval of Turkovac. (ILKHA)
