“This great victory by those heroes is a triumph for all Palestinian detainees in zionist occupation prisons,” Meshal said in two separate calls to the detainees' families.

Meshal offered his congratulations to the family of al-Fasfous, who has ended his hunger strike of 131 days though he faced imminent death after his health deteriorated over the days.

The Hamas leadership has been continuously following the hunger strike launched by six Palestinian detainees to protest their administrative detention without charge or trial, Meshal explained.

The senior Hamas official reaffirmed that the issue of Palestinian detainees is on top of his movement's list of priorities.

Meshal continued: “Hamas made a promise that it will not leave Palestinian detainees incarcerated in zionist occupation prisons at any cost.”

The detainees' families, in return, thanked Meshal for his phone call.

Al-Fasfous ended on Monday his hunger strike of 131 days after the Israeli occupation authorities issued an order to free him on 14 December.

Al-Harimi, a 28-year-old from the occupied West Bank city of Bethlehem, suspended his hunger strike that lasted 62 days after the Israeli occupation authorities agreed to release him in March 2022. (ILKHA)
