Global coronavirus death toll exceeds 5 million

The coronavirus outbreak, which was first identified in Wuhan, China, and declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization on March 11, 2020, is continuing to claim the lives of thousands of people across the world.

The United States, the current epicenter of the pandemic, has the highest number of coronavirus-related fatalities, with 766,117 deaths, followed by Brazil with 607,764 deaths, India with 458,219, and Mexico with 288,276 deaths.

About 224 million patients suffering from the disease have so far recovered and been discharged from hospitals worldwide. (ILKHA)
