Military forces arrest Sudanese Prime Minister amid coup reports

Top Sudanese officials, including Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok, were arrested by soldiers in Khartoum, the information ministry said in a statement.

“The joint military forces have arrested civilian members of the Sovereign Council and members of the government and have taken them to an undisclosed location,” the Ministry said.

Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok is among those who have been put under house arrest by soldiers.

There was no immediate comment from the military.

On September 21, a coup d'état was attempted against the Sovereignty Council of Sudan.

According to media reports, at least 40 officers were arrested following the attempt. (ILKHA)
