Emini gave a presentation titled “The Role of Islamic Scholar in Ensuring Internal Peace among Kurds” at the meeting, which was held via video conference this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“Kurdish Islamic scholars led many reforms in order to contribute to the regeneration of Muslim societies. Today, they continue to lead the Islamic Ummah in all areas of life. Praise to be Allah, they have achieved good and distinctive work in several fields in order to spread affection, brotherhood, and the spirit of unity. Kurdish people always show great respect to Islamic scholars, appreciate them, and obey them,” Emini said.
Drawing attention to the role of Islamic Scholars among Kurdish people, Emini went on to say: “Islamic scholars have assumed an important role to end feuds and conflicts in Kurdistan. They are settling marriage problems. They are intensively responding to every social incident in society, including ending the fights that broke out over money. Our scholars have assumed a great role in ensuring social peace. Be sure that, if it were not for Islamic scholars, there would have been a lot of bloodshed in Kurdistan due to personal disagreements.”
Emini listed the recommendations that he put forward on how to improve the role of Islamic scholars in Muslim societies as follows:
1. Today, Muslim communities need Islamic Scholars more than ever. In order to resolve the existing conflicts, fights, and disagreements, Islamic scholars should be involved in such events as much as they can in the light of the Qur'an and the Sunnah, without showing laziness and thus ensuring security in the society, neighborhood, or village in the country.
2. If every village or town had elected Islamic scholars as opinion leaders, today, there could be fewer troubles in the society.
3. The number of fatwah councils should be risen in Kurdistan, particularly. The fatwa councils, which constitute expert and competent Islamic scholars who can be consulted, should be established.
4. In particular, educational institutions with well-structured curriculum should be established and strengthened in order to train imams and to teach the methods of invitation and persuasion. (ILKHA)
