Kazakhstan: At least 9 people die, dozens injured after blasts at military facility

The explosions took place at a defense ministry arms depot in the southern Jambyl region, the local government said in a statement.

It said that at least 60 people had been rushed to a hospital in the city of Taraz with various injuries.

“Efforts continue to eliminate the consequences of the fire. Rescuers, military personnel, doctors, and all involved. People are actively working. Unfortunately, the number of victims is growing. But the situation is under control. Residents of Taraz and villages should be calm and careful,” tweeted Qasym-Jomart Toqayev, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. (ILKHA)
