Coronavirus: Iran reports 11,005 new cases, 251 deaths in the last 24 hours

Iran has reported 251 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths from the virus to 78,848, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Monday.

After 11,005 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 2,843,523 in the country.

There are at least 4,753 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, more than, 2,347,752 patients have been discharged from hospital after being cured.

So far, more than 19 million tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.

According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 3,479,967 with 167,599,154 cases and more than 148,644,333 recoveries. (ILKHA)
