Turkey-Germany relations and regional matters were discussed during the talk, the Turkish presidency said in a statement.

Wishing that the general election process in Germany may yield auspicious results, Erdoğan voiced his belief that Turkey-Germany relations would improve on the basis of common sense and strategic perspective also in the new period.

Noting that the impetus, achieved in Turkey-EU relations, should not be lost, Erdoğan said that Greece persisted in its provocative acts, the push-back incidents in the Aegean, which were against the international law and conscience, continued to increase and that Turkey, despite everything, maintained its restrained attitude to protect the positive agenda.

Stating that ways to continue to support Afghanistan in the most effective manner by also using NATO’s means and capabilities should be discussed, Erdoğan added that Turkey would continue to support the Government of National Unity for Libya’s stability and that Turkey stood ready to cooperate with Germany within this framework.
