Turkey’s lawmakers: Biden’s remarks on 1915 incidents are null and void in our eyes

The Grand National Assembly of Turkey has approved a joint declaration, rejecting US President Joe Biden's recognition of the 1915 Armenian events as "genocide”.

“We, as the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, regretfully and strongly condemn US President Joe Biden's remarks adopting the Armenian lobbies’ claims on the events of 1915. We strongly reject these baseless slanders, which have no meaning other than the distortion of history with political motives," read the joint declaration.

The parliament called on Biden to correct his mistake by changing his remarks on the events of 1915.

“Biden’s remarks on 1915 incidents are null and void in our eyes,” it added.

On Saturday, in a statement on Armenian Remembrance Day, the United States President Joe Biden become the first president who has used “genocide” term to refer to the 1915 incidents during the Ottoman Empire. (ILKHA)
