According to local sources, scores of foot and mounted police officers violently attacked Muslim worshipers in Bab al-Amud, showered them with rubber bullets and tear gas and stun grenades, chased them, and arrested a number of them.
The Red Crescent said that its ambulance crews provided medical assistance for 12 wounded Palestinians during the events.
Video footage showed a large number of police forces encircling Palestinian youths in Bab al-Amud and al-Sahira areas of the Old City before attacking them.

Earlier, violent clashes broke in the evening between angry Palestinian youths and zionist soldiers at the main entrance to al-Ram town in the north of Jerusalem.
Eyewitnesses said that dozens of young men took to the streets to protest recent zionist police and settler violence in Jerusalem when soldiers showered them with tear gas and stun grenades.
