Turkey’s house sales rise by 2.4% in March

In Turkey, house sales increased by 2.4% in March 2021 compared to the same month of the previous year and became 111 thousand 241, the country’s statistical institute said in a statement on Thursday.

İstanbul had the highest share with 19.8% and 22 thousand 7 house sales. The followers of İstanbul were Ankara with 11 thousand 3 house sales and İzmir with 6 thousand 636 house sales with the share of 9.9% and 6.0% respectively. The provinces where the lowest number of sales were Ardahan with 15, Hakkari with 16 and Tunceli with 52 house sales.

21 thousand 815 ownership of the houses changed by mortgaged sales

The mortgaged house sales in Turkey became 21 thousand 815 by decreasing 49.7% compared to the same month of the previous year. House sales with mortgage had 19.6% share of all house sales. İstanbul had the highest share with 21.3% and 4 thousand 643 mortgaged sales. Hakkari had the lowest number of mortgaged sales with 1 house sales.

Ownership of 89 thousand 426 houses changed by other sales

Other house sales in Turkey became 89 thousand 426 by increasing 36.9% compared to the same month of the previous year. In the other sales, İstanbul was the first province with 17 thousand 364 sales and 19.4% share. Other house sales had 78.9% share of all house sales in İstanbul. Ankara was the second province with 8 thousand 224 sales. Ankara was followed by İzmir with 5 thousand 158 sales. The province where the lowest number of other sales was Ardahan with 13 sales.

33 thousand 365 houses were sold for the first time

First time sales in Turkey became 33 thousand 365 by decreasing 2.1% compared to the same month of the previous year. First time sales had 30.0% share of all house sales in Turkey. The highest number of first-time sales was in İstanbul with 6 thousand 317 sales and share with 18.9%. The followers of İstanbul were Ankara with 2 thousand 98 house sales and İzmir with a thousand 836 house sales.

Ownership of 77 thousand 876 houses changed by second hand sales

Second hand house sales in Turkey became 77 thousand 876 by increasing 4.4% compared to the same month of the previous year. In the second-hand sales, İstanbul was the first province with 15 thousand 690 sales and 20.1% share. Share of the second-hand sales was 71.3% in İstanbul in total house sales. Ankara was the second province with 8 thousand 905 sales and Ankara was followed by İzmir with 4 thousand 800 sales.

Houses sales decreased by 22.9% in January-March period

In the January-March period, 263 thousand 50 houses were sold and decreased by 22.9% compared to the same period of the previous year. Mortgaged sales were 47 thousand 216 and decreased by 63.5%. In other sales, it was 215 thousand 834 and increased by 1.9%. In this period, houses sold for the first time decreased by 25.2% and became 80 thousand 370.  Second-hand house sales decreased by 21.8% and became 182 thousand 680.

In March, 4 thousand 248 houses were sold to foreigners

House sales to foreigners became 4 thousand 248 by increasing 39.9% compared to the same month of the previous year. İstanbul was the first province with 2 thousand 119 sales to foreigners in March. The followers of İstanbul were Antalya with 889 house sales, Ankara with 252, Mersin with 184 and Yalova with 129 house sales to foreigners.

In January-March period, house sales to foreigners became 9 thousand 887 by decreasing 9.7% compared to the same period of the previous year.

 Most house sales were made to Iran citizens according to country nationalities

In March, Iran citizens bought 663 houses from Turkey. The followers of Iran citizens were Iraq with 644 house sales, Russia with 419, Afghanistan with 302 and Kazakhstan citizens with 166 house sales. (ILKHA)
