Death toll from floods and landslides in Indonesia and East Timor surpasses 150

At least 150 people were killed and more than 70 went missing in floods and landslides triggered by Tropical Cyclone Seroja in the Indonesian province of East Nusa Tenggara, the country’s disaster management agency BNPB said on Tuesday.

More than 10,000 people have been displaced due to severe floods in eight municipalities in the province were impacted by the tropical cyclone, said Raditya Jati, a spokesman for disaster management agency BNPB.

Dozens of houses were buried in mud in villages. Residents' houses were washed away by the flood.

Hundreds of people have been unaccounted for in the landslides that hit the Nele Lamadike village area in East Nusa Tenggara, local sources said. (ILKHA)
