“I would like to thank you for your kind invitation and wish for the production facility co-founded by Xiaomi and Salcomp to be auspicious for your companies and our country. The entrepreneur-friendly investment climate in Turkey plays a crucial role in luring global giants to invest in our country. Furthermore, our country offers significant opportunities for foreign investors, with its dynamic and qualified labor, access to the vast domestic and regional markets, strategic location, and extensive incentive system,” Erdoğan noted in his message.

“We welcome requests from companies investing in Turkey to establish their R&D and design centers in our country”

Indicating that he believed the momentum would accelerate further when the economic reform packages aimed at improving the investment climate were introduced and the impacts of the pandemic mitigated, Erdoğan continued his remarks as follows: “Turkey, which sits at the crossroads of the European, Russian and Middle Eastern markets, is taking firm steps towards becoming the regional production hub for smartphone manufacturers, with annual smartphone sales exceeding 10 million. With an annual production capacity of 5 million, the factory, built by Xiaomi and its business partner Salcomp on an area of 14 thousand square meters with a $30 million investment, would also provide jobs for 2 thousand people.”

“I express my gratitude on my behalf and on behalf of my nation to you and all investors who have placed their trust in Turkey and our country's potential and future at a time when the world is facing challenges due to the Covid-19 pandemic. I would like to express that we welcome requests from companies investing in Turkey to establish their R&D and design centers in our country,” Erdoğan added. (ILKHA)
