Turkey: Number of road motor vehicle registrations decreases by 35.3% in February

In February, 75 thousand 902 road motor vehicle registrations were recorded in Turkey, the country’s statistical institute said in a statement on Tuesday.

Regarding the vehicle registrations in February, cars accounted for 56.3%, followed by motorcycles 16.5%, small trucks 15.6%, tractors 7.5%, trucks 3.0%, buses 0.4%, minibuses 0.4% and special purpose vehicles 0.3%.

The number of road motor vehicle registrations decreased by 35.3% compared with the previous month

In February, compared with the previous month, the number of road motor vehicle registrations increased by 19.2% and 10.1% for motorcycles and tractors while it decreased by 55.8%, 47.3%, 46.7%, 42.6%, 30.8% and 27.5% for special purpose vehicles, small trucks, minibuses, cars, buses and trucks respectively. 

The number of road motor vehicles registered increased by 42.8% compared with the same month of the previous year

In February, compared with the same month of the previous year, the number of road motor vehicle registrations increased by 89.1%, 80.6%, 61.7%, 60.1%, 54.8% and 33.3% for trucks, tractors, special purpose vehicles, small trucks, motorcycles and cars respectively while it decreased by 48.0% and 37.4% for minibuses and buses.

At the end of February, the total number of road motor vehicles registered reached 24 million 328 thousand 780

At the end of February, cars represented 54.3%, small trucks 16.3%, motorcycles 14.5%, tractors 8.1%, trucks 3.6%, minibuses 2.0%, buses 0.9% and special purpose vehicles 0.3% of total number of road motor vehicles registered.

497 thousand 153 road motor vehicles handed over in February

Among vehicles handed over in February, cars accounted for 63.7% followed by small trucks 18.2%, motorcycles 6.2%, tractors 4.8%, trucks 3.4%, minibuses 2.7%, buses 0.8% and special purpose vehicles 0.2%.

In February, 42 thousand 729 cars were registered to the traffic

In terms of the distribution of trademarks for the new registered cars in February, Fiat recorded 14.2%, Volkswagen 10.4%, Toyota 9.7%, Renault 9.6%, Peugeot 6.9%, Opel 5.6%, Skoda 5.1%, Honda 4.0%, Nissan 3.8%, Ford 3.7%, Dacia 3.7%, Citroen 3.3%, Kia 3.2%, Hyundai 3.1%, Mercedes-Benz 2.8%, Seat 2.6%, Audi 2.1%, BMW 2.1%, Volvo 1.1%, Jeep 0.4% and the other trademarks 2.7% of the total.      

In the period of January-February 193 thousand 215 road motor vehicles were registered

In the January-February period, compared to the same period of the previous year, the number of registered vehicles increased by 30.8% and became 193 thousand 215 while the number of withdrawn road motor vehicles decreased by 25.2% and became 7 thousand 391. Hence, in the period of January-February, the increase in motor vehicles registered became 185 thousand 824.

In the period of January-February, the ratio of cars registered using gasoline was 53.9%

Among 117 thousand 234 cars registered in the period of January-February, the share of gasoline-fuelled cars was 53.9% followed by diesel-fuelled cars with 33.9%, electric or hybrid cars with 6.8% and LPG-fuelled cars with 5.4%. At the end of February, among 13 million 214 thousand 599 registered cars, the share of diesel-fuelled cars was 38.2% followed by LPG-fuelled cars with 36.5% and gasoline-fuelled cars with 24.6%. The share of electric or hybrid cars was 0.3% and cars with unknown fuel type were 0.3%.

The most frequent engine size was 1401-1500 for registered cars in the January-February period

Within 117 thousand 234 cars registered to traffic in January-February period, 29.5% had 1401-1500, 27.1% had 1300 or less, 20.3% had 1501-1600, 15.6% had 1301-1400, 6.3% had 1601-2000, 0.7% had 2001 and above.  

In the January-February period 47 thousand 761 of cars registered were white

Within 117 thousand 234 cars registered to traffic in the January-February period, 40.7% of them were white, 28.9% were grey, 9.5% were blue, 7.6% were red, 6.6% were black, 2.0% were orange, 1.5% were brown, 0.6% were yellow, 0.4% were green and 2.2% were in other colors. (ILKHA)
