Iran’s coronavirus death toll rises to 59,341

Iran has reported 77 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths from the virus to 59,341, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Friday.

After 8,017 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 1,558,159 in the country.

There are at least 3,669 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, about 1,331,162 patients have been discharged from hospital after being cured.

So far, at least 10,274,529 tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.

According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 2,454,517 with 110,929,537 cases and more than 85,871,690 recoveries. (ILKHA)
