Turkish Coast Guard: 23 irregular migrants rescued off northwestern Turkey

23 irregular migrants were rescued from a boat off the coast of the Ayvacık district of Turkey’s northwestern Çanakkale province, Turkish Coast Guard Command announced in a statement on Thursday.

23 irregular migrants were rescued from the boat that went adrift due to broken engine off the coast of Ayvacık in the northwestern Canakkale province, according to the statement.

Turkey has traditionally been a major transit port for irregular immigrants to enter the European countries.
