“Indian troops initiated ceasefire violation in Bagsar Sector along LOC. Pakistan army troops responded befittingly. Reports of heavy losses to Indian troops in men and material. During intense exchange of fire two soldiers, Naik Shahjahan, age 35 years and Sepoy Hameed, age 21 years, while fighting valiantly embraced shahadat,” Pakistan’s military said.

Dozens of people have recently been on both sides in clashes between Pakistani and Indian troops along the de facto Kashmir frontier.

The Line of Control (LoC) is a military control line between the Indian and Pakistani controlled parts of the former princely state of Jammu and Kashmir—a line which does not constitute a legally recognized international boundary, but serves as the de facto border.

Originally known as the Cease-fire Line, it was redesignated as the Line of Control following the Simla Agreement. (ILKHA)
