Eswatini PM Dlamini dies from COVID-19

Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini, the Prime Minister of Eswatini, has died one month after testing positive for coronavirus.

Dlamini, who died at age 52 at a South Africa hospital, has become the first world leader to die from coronavirus virus.

“Their Majesties have commanded that I inform the Nation of the sad and untimely passing away of His Excellency the Prime Minister Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini. His Excellency passed on this afternoon while under medical care in a hospital in South Africa. Government in collaboration with the family will keep the nation informed of subsequent arrangements,” the kingdom's government said in a statement.

Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini, who was a Swazi business executive, has served as the tenth Prime Minister of Eswatini since October 2018.

Prior to his appointment, he worked in the banking and telecommunications sectors, including as managing director of Nedbank and as CEO of MTN Eswatini. (ILKHA)
