Iran reports 362 new deaths from coronavirus in the past 24 hours

After 13,621 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 989,572 in the country, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Wednesday.

362 more people have died of coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths from the virus to 48,990.

There are at least 5,828 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, more than 688,054 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.

So far, more than 6,212,694 tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.

According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 1,489,817 with 64,328,259 cases and more than 44,611,679 recoveries. (ILKHA)
