“Pakistan will do everything, whatever is possible, we will do to help reduce this violence and in fact move towards a ceasefire”, said Khan at a joint press conference alongside Afghan President Ashraf Ghani at the Presidential Palace during his maiden visit to Kabul on Thursday.
Reminding that the Afghan people have suffered for four decades, Khan went on to say: “The idea of visiting at a time when violence is increasing is to assure you, President Ghani, that the people and the government of Pakistan have only one concern; peace in Afghanistan.”
Highlighting Pakistan’s role in the peace deal signed between the Taliban and the U.S. side and later on starting the intra-Afghan dialogue, He expressed his regret that despite such efforts violence was increasing in Afghanistan.
Imran Khan paid a day-long visit to Kabul today at the invitation of President Ashraf Ghani.
That was the Prime Minister’s first visit to Afghanistan since assuming office in August 2018. (ILKHA)
