A police chief killed in northern Afghanistan

A district police chief among six security men were killed in Taliban attack in Faryab province.

Safar Raees Baidar, the police chief of Qaramqul district of Faryab province, was killed along with five security forces in a roadside bomb attack, the local officials said.

At the same time, six Taliban members were killed and three others injured when their attack on a security checkpoint in the center of the Qaramqul district of Faryab province met with resistance, according to security officials.

No groups have so far claimed the responsibility for the attacks.

Since 2001 when the United States invaded Afghanistan, over 100,000 people have been killed in the war, including more than 4,000 ISAF soldiers and civilian contractors, more than 62,000 Afghan national security forces, 31,000 civilians and even more Taliban members. (ILKHA)
