Producer Price Index of Agricultural Products increases by 18.70% annually in Turkey

Producer Price Index of Agricultural Products (Agriculture-PPI) increased by 18.70% annually and 1.89% monthly, Turkish Statistical Institute said in a statement on Monday.

Agriculture-PPI (2015=100) on the previous month increased by 1.89%, on December of the previous year increased by 14.17%, on same month of the previous year increased by 18.70% and on the twelve months moving averages basis increased by 13.99% in October 2020, according to the statement.

Compared to the previous month in sectors; products of agriculture, hunting and related services increased by 1.82%, forestry products and related services increased by 2.66% and fishing products and other fishing products increased by 3.85%. Regarding monthly changes by main groups; live animals and animal products increased by 1.47%, non-perennial crops increased by 1.47% and perennial crops increased by 3.01%.

The lowest annual increase was 1.31% in oleaginous fruits subgroup

In October 2020, fiber plants with 4.57% and other tree and bush fruits and nuts with 6.13% were the other subgroups where low increases realized. On the other hand, rice (in hulk) with 37.55%, cereals (except rice), leguminous crops and oil seeds with 28.39% and grapes with 25.99% were the subgroups where high annual increases realized on the same month of the previous year.

The highest monthly decrease was 3.18% in vegetables and melons, roots and tubers subgroup

In October 2020, the groups that indicated the lowest increase were oleaginous fruits with 0.84% and dairy cattle, live and raw milk from dairy cattle with 0.93% amongst the subgroups. On the other hand, other tree and bush fruits and nuts with 16.02%, rice (in hulk) with 8.22% and fiber plants with 6.77% were the subgroups where high monthly increases realized.

In October 2020 within average prices of 92 items in the index; the average prices of 17 items decreased and the average prices of 16 items remained unchanged while the average prices of 59 items increased. (ILKHA)
