Confidence index increases in services, retail trade and construction sectors in Turkey

Seasonally adjusted confidence index increased by 6.4% in services sector, 1.7% in retail trade sector and 0.6% in construction sector in October compared to the previous month, Turkish Statistical Institute said in a statement on Monday.

Services confidence index realized as 79.7

Seasonally adjusted confidence index which was 74.9 for services in September increased by 6.4% in October to 79.7. In services sector compared to the previous month, business situation over past three months sub-index increased by 8.0% to 77.0. Demand-turnover over past three months sub-index increased by 7.2% to 74.9 and demand-turnover expectation over next three months sub-index increased by 4.3% to 87.4.

Retail trade confidence index realized as 95.0

Seasonally adjusted retail trade confidence index increased by 1.7% in October to 95.0. In retail trade sector compared to the previous month, business activity-sales over past three months sub-index increased by 3.0% to 86.6. Current volume of stock sub-index decreased by 0.2% to 107.5 and business activity-sales expectation over next three months sub-index increased by 2.7% to 90.9.

Construction confidence index realized as 83.8

Seasonally adjusted construction confidence index which was 83.3 in previous month increased by 0.6% in October to 83.8. In construction sector compared to the previous month, current overall order books sub-index became 69.8 by decreasing 0.2%. Total employment expectation over next three months sub-index increased by 1.2% to 97.8.

In construction sector, 64.8% of the enterprises indicated at least one factor limiting their activities while 35.2% of the enterprises indicated none in October. Among the main factors limiting activities in construction sector; "financial constraints" which was 39.3% in September realized as 42.4% in October, "insufficient demand" which was 32.8% in September realized as 30.2% in October and "other factors" which was 17.0% in September realized as 16.2% in October.
