Death toll from flash floods rises to 185 in Nigeria

Heavy rains and flooding have killed hundreds of people and displaced hundreds of thousands of residents in Nigeria.

Thousands and homes and wide areas of crops have been destroyed in recent flooding in the states of Jigawa, Kano, Kebbi and Sokoto, northern Nigeria.

The floods damaged the agricultural areas, increasing the risk of famine in the country.

Thousands of people are in immediate need of shelter, clean water, and health services, according to local sources.
