Producer price index of agricultural products rises by 18.48% annually in Turkey

Producer price index of agricultural products (Agriculture-PPI) increased by 18.48% annually and 2.56% monthly in September, Turkish Statistical Institute said in a statement on Wednesday.

According to the statement, agriculture-PPI (2015=100) on the previous month increased by 2.56%, on December of the previous year increased by 12.05%, on same month of the previous year increased by 18.48% and on the twelve months moving averages basis increased by 13.89% in September 2020.

Compared to the previous month in sectors; fishing products and other fishing products decreased by 0.24%, forestry products and related services increased by 0.22%, products of agriculture, hunting and related services increased by 2.69%. Regarding monthly changes by main groups; live animals and animal products increased by 0.07%, non-perennial crops increased by 3.07% and perennial crops increased by 6.02%.

The lowest annual increase was 8.01% in poultry, live and eggs subgroup

In September 2020, oleaginous fruits with 10.01% and fiber plants with 11.10% were the other subgroups where low increases realized. On the other hand, pome fruits and stone fruits with 30.99%, rice (in hulk) with 24.55% and tropical and subtropical fruits with 23.93% were the subgroups where high annual increases realized on the same month of the previous year.

The highest monthly decrease was 2.57% in other tree and bush fruits and nuts subgroup

In September 2020, the other groups that indicated decreases were grapes with 2.40% and dairy cattle, live and raw milk from dairy cattle with 0.58% amongst the subgroups. On the other hand, rice (in hulk) with 6.25%, vegetables and melons, roots and tubers with 4.52% and pome fruits and stone fruits with 3.64% were the subgroups where high monthly increases realized.

In September 2020 within average prices of 84 items in the index; the average prices of 37 items decreased and the average prices of 8 items remained unchanged while the average prices of 39 items increased. (ILKHA)
