In his letter, Erdogan accused those who are endorsing Israel’s practices in Palestine of insulting Salahuddin al-Ayyubi, a great Muslim conqueror who liberated the holy city in 1187.
“Those who legalize the israeli occupation, approve its annexation plan in Jerusalem and the Palestinian territories, and refuses to recognize our Palestinian brothers’ rights are insulting Salahuddin al-Ayyubi,” Erdogan said.
The Turkish president hailed Salahuddin as a leader who loved Jerusalem and enjoyed great stature among his friends and opponents.
He affirmed that Jerusalem, the third holy city in Islam, remains the greatest legacy of Salahuddin al-Ayyubi, who liberated it from the Crusaders and established peace within its walls.
Erdogan stressed that “supporting Jerusalem, respecting it and working to protect it is the duty of every Muslim.” (ILKHA)
