Iran's coronavirus death toll exceeds 25,000

Iran has reported 175 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths from the virus to 25,015, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Thursday.

After 3,521 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 436,319 in the country.

There are at least 3,957 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, more than 367,729 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.

So far, more than 3,854,827 have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.

According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 982,766 with 32,143,941 cases and more than 23,709,324 recoveries. (ILKHA)
