Iran's death toll from coronavirus rises to 24,478

Iran has reported 177 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths from the virus to 23,808, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Monday.

After 3,341 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 425,481 in the country.

There are at least 3,912 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, more than 361,000 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.

So far, more than 3,770,000 have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.

According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 965,625 with 31,272,842 cases and more than 22,851,387 recoveries. (ILKHA)
