Yapıcıoğlu made important statements about the genocide against Arakanese Muslims in Myanmar, the tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean, the threatening statements of the United States after President Erdogan received Ismail Haniyeh, head of the HAMAS Political Bureau, and the ugly attacks on the Holy Quran in Sweden.

Persecution of Muslims in Myanmar

Emphasizing that international organizations should take action against the genocide committed by the Myanmar army and Buddhist gangs in Rohingya for years, Yapıcıoğlu said:” Arakanese Muslims, who have been subjected to torture and slaughter for years by the Myanmar army and Buddhist gangs, are also deprived of their basic rights and freedoms. According to a report by the London-based Burma Human Rights Network, 1,675 Arakanese Muslims, including children, were sentenced to hard labor between 2 and 5 years for leaving their homes. Arakanese who have to leave their homes without permission are considered criminals in the region, where access to a travel permit is almost impossible. Fundamental human rights such as the rights to property, marriage and travel are restricted in the area, which has been converted into an open-air prison. Although the attacks carried out by the Myanmar administration against Arakanese Muslims have been described as a genocide by the UN, they have not received sufficient response from the international community and organizations. This encourages continued violations of rights and the use of the domestic legal system as a weapon against the Arakanese. International organizations must act as soon as possible against the Myanmar administration, which is accused of genocide. Those who commit genocide should be punished, and international pressure should be put on them to revise the legal system in Myanmar, which has become a weapon used against Muslims.”

The tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean

Warning that attempts by states such as the United Arab Emirates and France in the eastern Mediterranean to escalate tensions have raised tensions to a very dangerous level, Yazıoğlu noted that it is of great importance for Turkey to maintain the legitimacy of its position by staying within the framework of international law.

Yapıcıoğlu continued his remarks as follows: “The ongoing Eastern Mediterranean tension between Turkey and Greece has escalated with Turkey's announcement of a new Navtex and reciprocative military exercises. This dangerous process, involving France, Italy and the UAE, poses a risk of military conflict. Turkey's resolution to protect its rights and interests based on international law on a legitimate basis is important. In this direction, Turkey should reiterate its calls for negotiations and set a road map to eliminate the possibility of military conflict in the region. A dialogue process should be launched in order to reduce the tension in the eastern Mediterranean; to determine the exact areas of sovereignty, to share natural resources fairly, and to prevent violations. The attempts by states such as the United Arab Emirates and France in the eastern Mediterranean to escalate tensions have raised tensions to a very dangerous level. German Chancellor Merkel's call for all European states to support Greece has once again shown that Europe, especially its arms exporting countries, is provoking war. Those who plan to sell weapons may think that they will profit from a possible war, but the administrators they provoke and encourage for war must act with reason, thinking about the interests of their own people. It is of great importance that Turkey remains out of the alliance and polarization that prioritize a military solution in the region in the coming process and maintains the legitimacy of its position by staying within the framework of international law.”

Hamas officials' visit to Turkey

Yapıcıoğlu harshly criticized the threatening statements of the United States after President Erdogan received representatives of the Palestinian people, and noted the importance of Turkey not giving in to the blackmail of the United States.

“Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a meeting with the Chief of Hamas's Political Bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, in Istanbul last week. Hosting the legitimate representatives of the brotherly Palestinian people, whose territory has been occupied and under economic siege for 14 years, in Turkey and holding meetings with these representatives at all levels were important steps that need to be taken. During this difficult period, when the Palestinian cause was being drowned out by the United States and the Gulf states, Mr. President's meeting with representatives of the Palestinian people was a meaningful support. In this difficult period when the USA and Gulf countries are trying to strangle the Palestinian cause, the President's meeting with the representatives of the Palestinian people has been a meaningful support. It is to cross the line for a US State Department spokesman to implicitly threaten Turkey because of this meeting. It has been claimed that this meeting means support for terrorism, will make Turkey alone and harm the Palestinian people. The real terrorism is to try to label the elected legitimate representatives of the Palestinian people as terrorists. The United States continues its blackmail not only against Turkey, but also against many countries of the world. During the U.S. Secretary of state's visit to Sudan last week, he was quoted in world media as asking Sudan for $ 330 million in bribes in exchange for lifting sanctions imposed on the country and removing the country from the terror list. The United States has damaged the country's economy by hundreds of billions of dollars in sanctions it has imposed on Sudan since 1979. Therefore, the country has difficulty meeting even the basic needs of its people. In 1998, the United States also bombed the country's largest pharmaceutical factory, Al-Shifa, under the pretext of producing chemical weapons. The United States has neither apologized for the attack nor is willing to pay compensation. These blackmails are the clearest indication that the United States is a global bandit. It is the United States that must pay for the damages it has caused to Sudan. For the sake of peace, the world must get rid of this bandit as soon as possible.”

“Deterrent legal sanctions should be imposed against the attack on religious symbols”

Condemning the disgusting attack against Holy Quran in Sweden, Yapıcıoğlu said: ”The Holy Quran has been burned in violence carried out by an anti-Muslim group in Malmö, Sweden. Racism, which has reached an embarrassing level in European countries in recent years, has led to attacks on the lives and property of Muslims, worship centers and religious symbols. Racists receive the greatest support from the administrations of countries that do not intervene in acts of violence and do not give racists the necessary penalties in the subsequent legal process. We condemn the heinous attack on the Holy Quran in Sweden, which aimed to provoke Muslims. Deterrent criminal sanction should be imposed the perpetrators of the attacks on religious symbols, and the Swedish administration should guarantee the freedom of worship of Muslims in the face of rising fascism in the country.” (ILKHA)
