Iran's death toll from coronavirus rises to 17,976

Iran has reported 174 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths from the virus to 17,976, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Thursday.

After 2,624 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 320,117 in the country.

There are at least 4,156 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, 277,463 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.

So far, more than, 2,600,000 tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.

According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 711,912 with 19,009,657 cases and more than 12,195,821 recoveries. (ILKHA)
