Brazil has reported 1,057 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the country’s death toll from the virus to 60,713.
Brazil is the country with the second-highest number of coronavirus-related deaths in the world.
Brazil also ranks second in the world in terms of total cases, behind the United States.
While at least 8,318 patients are being treated in intensive care units, more than 826,866 patients suffering from coronavirus have fully recovered and been discharged from hospital.
Sao Paulo, the country’s most-populated state, continues to be the epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic in Brazil. The state has so far reported more than 275,145 confirmed coronavirus cases, with at least 14,398 deaths.
On the other hand, Brazilian Health Ministry delivered more 117 ventilators, used in the treatment of patients with Covid-19 who have difficulty breathing.
“The equipment was sent to 11 states of the country. In all, the Ministry of Health has already distributed 6,527 ventilators, demonstrating the commitment of the Government of Brazil to strengthen hospital structures for the Brazilian population,” the ministry said. (ILKHA)
