“Solidarity among nations, solidarity among health workers, solidarity among all of us is the only way to stop this COVID19 pandemic,” he said.

Coronavirus disease was first identified in 2019 in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei province in central China, and has since spread globally, resulting in the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic.

Globally, 350,536 people have been tested positive for the virus, of whom 15,328 have died and 100,182 have recovered.

China is the country with the highest number of confirmed infections, with 81,496. It followed by Italy, with 59,138, then the US with 35,225, Spain with 33,089, and Germany with 26,220.

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the coronavirus outbreak a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) on January 30 and a pandemic on March 11. (ILKHA)
