14 million people screened for coronavirus in Iran

A total of 14 million people have been screened in Iran for the new coronavirus out as part of a national plan to prevent its spread," the country's Health Minister Saeid Namaki said.

He stated that the implementation of the plan began four days ago rapidly, saying that a significant number of these individuals were screened via the online platform and the rest through phone calls, electronic health files and apps.

He also added that in coming days, the rest of the people would be screened.

Iran reported its first confirmed cases of coronavirus infections on 19 February 2020 in Qom.  Iran has been the third highest number of COVID-19 deaths after Mainland China and Italy, the highest in Western Asia and the third-highest number of COVID 19 cases, surpassed only by Mainland China and Italy.
