Death toll from eastern Turkey earthquake increases to 22: Interior Minister

"Four people died in Doğanşehir district of Malatya and 18 others in Elazig province. 39 people were also rescued from the rubble of collapsed houses and buildings "said the Minister at a press conference in Elazığ.

He added that a prison in Turkey's eastern Adıyaman, which was damaged in the earthquake, would be evacuated.

The earthquake, centered on Sivrice district in Elazığ, was felt by poeple in neighboring provinces and as far afield as Iraq, Syria, Iran and Lebanon. (ILKHA)
