Iraq tells US to decide the mechanism for troop withdrawal from the country

According to the statement, the request came in a telephone call between Abdul-Mahdi and U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Thursday night.

"The prime minister said Iraq rejects all violations against its sovereignty including the attacks carried out by Iranian forces against U.S. troops in Iraq as well as American violations of Iraq’s airspace in the airstrike that killed Iranian general Qasem Soleimani last week," the statement added.

Iraqi Parliament passed a resolution to expel U.S. troops in the wake of an airstrike that killed top Iranian general Qassem Soleimani and senior Iraqi militia commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis last Friday. (ILKHA)
