The Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) said the israeli prison service and its jailers had started killing prisoner Abu Diyak before he was diagnosed with cancer, which resulted from deliberate medical neglect and maltreatment.
Abu Diyak was detained on July 17, 2002 and was sentenced to triple life terms plus 30 years, of which he spent 17 years behind bars before his death.
He was diagnosed with intestinal cancer in September 2015 after his condition began to deteriorate as a result of a surgical mistake by doctors at the israeli Soroka hospital in the south of israel where he underwent surgery to remove 83 centimeters of his large intestine.
Later, zionist jailers kept transferring him from one place to another. At first, he was transferred to the Ramla prison infirmary where his health deteriorated considerably due to the dismal and unhygienic conditions of the place. He was then transferred to Assaf Harofeh Hospital and later returned to Ramla prison before finally taking him back to Assaf Harofeh where he died today.
Abu Diyak was unable to walk and moved only on a wheelchair. He underwent four operations to remove tumors from the intestines, and during one of the operations, he went into a coma for one month. He was also suffering from other health problems, including kidney and lung failures.
Many petitions had been submitted for the early release of Abu Diyak after his health kept deteriorating very seriously, but the zionist occupation gangs always rejected all appeals. (ILKHA)
