Turkish authorities detain 182 suspects in nationwide ISIS operations

Turkish Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced that 182 individuals suspected of links to the ISIS terrorist organization were detained during operations conducted in 22 provinces over the past three weeks.

In a statement on X(formerly Twitter), Minister Yerlikaya said: “182 suspected terrorist organization members were captured in the ‘Gürz-31-32-33’ operations organized by the Gendarmerie in 22 provinces. Of these, 43 suspects were arrested, 24 were placed under judicial control, and investigations for the remaining suspects are ongoing.”

The operations were coordinated with the public prosecutors' offices and Gendarmerie General Command Anti-Terrorism Department in Adana, Antalya, Aydın, Burdur, Bursa, Bolu, Denizli, Diyarbakır, Düzce, Gaziantep, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Kırklareli, Kırıkkale, Kırşehir, Mersin, İstanbul, İzmir, Samsun, Şanlıurfa, Trabzon, and Yozgat.

Yerlikaya stated that investigations were launched against the detained suspects for offenses including membership in a terrorist organization, aiding and abetting terrorism, financing terrorist activities, and spreading terrorist propaganda through social media.

During the operations, law enforcement seized a significant amount of organizational documents and digital materials, which are now being analyzed as part of the ongoing investigations.

The Ministry of Interior emphasized Türkiye’s commitment to countering terrorism, highlighting the importance of comprehensive operations to ensure national security. The recent efforts reflect the country’s intensified stance against ISIS and its affiliates.

Authorities reiterated their determination to continue fighting terrorism and disrupting activities that threaten public safety and security. (ILKHA)
