In a statement, Hamas affirmed its commitment to engaging with initiatives aimed at achieving a ceasefire, emphasizing its responsiveness throughout the ongoing conflict.

The group criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government, labeling them as "war criminals" who have rejected international efforts and resolutions while continuing a "genocide war" against civilians in Gaza. Hamas accused the United States of providing full support for these actions.

Hamas urged the global community, particularly Arab and Islamic nations and influential powers, to pressure Israel to implement the UN resolution, which it described as reflecting the "global conscience."

The group also called for the prosecution of Israeli officials at the International Criminal Court (ICC), demanding accountability for alleged war crimes and enforcement of existing arrest warrants.

The UNGA resolutions, adopted on Wednesday, called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and supported the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). "Israel" and the U.S. voted against the resolutions. While Security Council resolutions are legally binding, UNGA resolutions are not, although they represent global opinion.

The resolution calls for "an immediate, unconditional, and permanent ceasefire" and the "immediate and unconditional release of all hostages." It also demands "immediate access" to extensive humanitarian aid for Gaza's population, especially in the heavily blockaded northern region.

Hamas also called for holding Israeli war criminals accountable by bringing them to the International Criminal Court and enforcing arrest warrants issued against them. (ILKHA)
