Haqqani, a prominent member of the influential Haqqani network and the uncle of Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani, was overseeing efforts to address Afghanistan's ongoing refugee crisis.

Local sources indicate that the explosion occurred inside the mosque, resulting in Haqqani’s death. The exact number of casualties from the blast has not yet been confirmed.

While the Islamic Emirate leadership has yet to officially acknowledge Haqqani’s death, the incident marks a significant loss for the administration. Investigations into the explosion and its perpetrators are ongoing.
