The raid aimed to seize records related to cabinet meetings held on the night martial law was declared. Law enforcement agencies, including the National Police Agency, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, and the National Assembly Police Guards, were also targeted in the coordinated operation.

Former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun, who reportedly proposed the martial law declaration, attempted suicide late Tuesday while in custody, a justice ministry official confirmed to parliament. The official added that Kim is currently in stable condition. Kim was arrested on Tuesday as part of an ongoing investigation.

President Yoon and several of his allies are facing insurrection charges following the martial law debacle. Travel bans have been imposed on key figures involved in the case, signaling the gravity of the allegations against the administration.

North Korean state media weighed in on the controversy, describing the martial law declaration as an "insane" move by a "fascist dictator." The criticism comes amid heightened tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

The unfolding political and legal crisis has cast a shadow over President Yoon's administration, with analysts questioning the stability of his leadership in the wake of these developments. (ILKHA)
