UN Chief Guterres: Gaza catastrophe signals collapse of humanity

His remarks come as the Israeli aggression on the Strip continues unabated for more than 14 months.

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Guterres called for immediate action to end the suffering. "The catastrophe in Gaza is nothing less than a complete collapse of our humanity," he stated. "This nightmare must stop."

The UN chief also urged the global community to acknowledge and address the dire situation in Gaza. "We cannot continue to turn a blind eye to what is happening in the Strip," he emphasized.

Guterres’s comments underline the urgent need for a resolution to the crisis, which has drawn widespread condemnation from international organizations and human rights advocates. The prolonged violence has resulted in significant loss of life, destruction, and a worsening humanitarian situation in the densely populated enclave.
