Araghchi shared his remarks in a post on his X account after conducting talks with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.

"Important talks with President Assad and straightforward constructive discussion with FM Fidan. My trip from Damascus to Ankara was among rare direct flights," Araghchi wrote. He stressed the unanimous agreement that another conflict in Syria would only guarantee the spillover of terrorism throughout the region.

Araghchi reiterated Iran's support for the Syrian people, government, and army in their fight against terrorism, and expressed Iran's readiness to assist in regional de-escalation through dialogue and diplomacy.

The remarks come in the wake of a large-scale attack by armed groups, led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, in Aleppo and Idlib provinces. The Syrian government forces have since been engaged in fierce clashes to regain control of the seized areas.

Syria has been embroiled in foreign-sponsored militancy since March 2011, with the Assad government accusing Western states and their regional allies of supporting terrorist groups to destabilize the country. (ILKHA)
