This regulation is part of the government's efforts to enhance road safety during the winter months. From December 1st to April 1st, all commercial vehicles are required to use winter tires. Failure to comply with this regulation will result in a fine of 4,069 TL.

The regulation applies specifically to commercial vehicles, including trucks, buses, and minibuses, which are now required to use winter tires during the designated period. While private vehicle owners are not legally obligated to equip their cars with winter tires, experts strongly recommend their use in temperatures below 7°C to ensure safety on the roads.

Local authorities also have the discretion to mandate winter tires for private vehicles if weather conditions necessitate such measures.

Winter tires are often associated with snowy regions, but their benefits extend beyond snow-covered roads. Designed to perform in cold weather conditions, these tires provide improved grip and road-holding capabilities compared to regular tires, making them essential for safe driving in low temperatures.

With the regulation now in force, drivers are advised to ensure their vehicles comply to avoid penalties and enhance road safety during the winter months. (ILKHA)
