The elections, held in 37 provinces, 93 cities, and 415 regencies, saw over 204 million eligible voters cast their ballots at polling stations spread across 17,000 islands and spanning three time zones.

Voting took place from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jakarta time, with the immediate commencement of vote counting. Results, however, will take time to be finalized, with the process expected to continue until December 16.

The country's election commission has yet to announce specific dates for the official release of the results. Meanwhile, the inauguration of the elected governors and vice governors is set for February 7, 2025, followed by the swearing-in of mayors, regents, and their deputies on February 10, 2025. (ILKHA)
