"What matters to us is that whoever assumes power takes a realistic approach regarding Afghanistan," Fitrat stated.
This call for pragmatic policies comes as the U.S. presidential race heats up between Republican candidate Donald Trump and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, both of whom have focused on key issues surrounding the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan and the Doha Agreement during their campaigns.
Trump has criticized current President Joe Biden for the disorder that accompanied the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Afghanistan in August 2021. Conversely, Harris has pointed the finger at Trump for initiating the Doha Agreement, which facilitated the withdrawal and paved the way for the Islamic Emirate's return to power in Afghanistan.
On November 5, American voters will cast their ballots to decide the next president, choosing between Trump and Harris as the candidates continue to address Afghanistan's future in their platforms. (ILKHA)
