Qassem, previously Hezbollah's deputy leader and a prominent figure within the organization, steps into the role after serving as the acting leader since Nasrallah’s death in late September.
Qassem’s long tenure with Hezbollah dates back to 1991 when he was appointed as deputy chief by Abbas al-Musawi, Hezbollah’s secretary general at the time.
Following Musawi’s assassination by an Israeli helicopter strike in 1992, Qassem continued to serve under Nasrallah’s leadership.
Over the years, he has represented Hezbollah in numerous interviews with foreign media and has been a key spokesperson for the organization. (ILKHA)
