The campaign, which will run from Monday through Wednesday, seeks to provide anti-polio drops to children in 16 of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces.
Sharafat Zaman Amarkhil, spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Health, called on tribal elders, religious scholars, and parents to support the initiative by facilitating the work of polio vaccination teams.
“There are no confirmed positive polio cases registered in Afghanistan in 2024,” Amarkhil noted. “The ministry is striving to eradicate this wild virus by conducting regular vaccine campaigns.”
The campaign reflects the government’s continued efforts to prevent any resurgence of polio and to protect the health of future generations. (ILKHA)
